Tick Tock (Goes the Clock) || Brittana

fierce-femme-phenom-lopez:

Graduating felt surreal, knowing that she still didn’t know what she was going to do, even as they handed her her diploma. She didn’t feel any different for it. There was a sense of accomplishment, donning those robes and walking across the stage and beaming up at her mother, at Brittany - but it was gone as soon as it had come and she was left standing there, clutching a useless piece of paper.

When it came to saying goodbye, there was reminiscing and tears were shed. Numbers were exchanged and promises made to be broken. Santana, frankly, didn’t count on seeing much of anyone ever again, but when it came to Brittany? She held on the longest, eyes stinging and heart aching for more time. Because, even in the safety of Brittany’s arms, she couldn’t escape the the looming threat of separation that hung over their heads.

At first, Santana felt cheated. She wanted to sue Figgins for the myriad of school policy cracks that Brittany fell through - they’d have her diploma in the mail two weeks later, tops. Or she could take summer classes, maybe even try for her GED. But that all depended on what Brittany wanted and Santana was angry with herself for not doing more, angry with Brittany for being okay with failing. Then, thinking about it, she was just sad; the more she thought about it, the less sure she was of what she wanted. But Kurt, Dave, Brittany, her mother - they were all pressuring her and it was wearing her down. The icing on the cake was that she seemed to be the only one struggling to cope at all and Santana was tired of being afraid. Still torn between fame and stability, she conformed and, come fall, would be going to college. All that was left to do was tell Brittany, which was why she was loitering around outside of the park with a loaf of bread and an envelope, waiting for her girlfriend to show. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail, sunglasses hiding her eyes, and her best studs in her ears. She was wearing a white blouse with cuffed sleeves and a nice pair of jeans, not sure of how to present herself, but wanting to at least seem like she had a plan.

Brittany had a mixture of feelings as she stood, not up on stage, as perhaps she should have been, but in the audience, with the rest of the juniors and family members, cheering for the graduates. Though tears of pride swelled in her eyes as she looked up at all her friends, at her girlfriend, finished school, going off to do great things with their lives, there was a cloud of dread hovering over her head, suffocating her in it’s mist.

The night before she’d barely slept thinking about it. She guessed she felt partly embarrassed. This was meant to be her year, the year she finally got with Santana, she was class president, made the senior prom a success, yet she wasn’t even graduating. She didn’t want to have to face the school next September, all the whispers and stares. She didn’t want people judging her. It was then she kind of understood what had made Santana so afraid to be herself, what seemed like eons ago.

Her parents hadn’t been dissapointed in her. Maybe that was the worst part, that it hadn’t even occurred to them that maybe she actually could do it. Maybe she wasn’t a lost cause… They had assumed she wouldn’t graduate. You know it’s bad when your parents don’t even believe in you anymore.

As she walked out of the school, squinting in the sunlight, she spotted Santana, standing by her car in the parking lot. Santana. Bar a select few of her friends, the only one left that still believed in her. And now she was holding her back from reaching her dreams. She felt like she weighed a million pounds as she walked over to where she stood, dreading what she had to do next.

”Hey,San. Congratulations.” she said, quietly, out of character. She leaned into a brief hug and then pulled away.

Nice day for shopping || Sunshine Twins

Brittany texted Blaine to let him know she’d be at his house in ten minutes. His house was only a couple of blocks away, and the mall was a short walk from there, so she figured seeing as the weather was so nice they could walk it. She shrugged a hooded jacket over her shoulders and stepped out the door. The humid heat knocked her back a little. She took a couple steps back inside, almost stumbling over the door frame, and abandoned her coat, closing the door as she left.

The weather was nice enough to put her in a good mood as she half-walked, half-skipped down the footpath, however the beating sun wore her out quickly, and by the time she arrived at Blaine’s house she was open-mouthed and panting.

She rang the doorbell three times in quick procession and sat down on the front door step. She wiped a hand across her forehead dramatically, wiping away a non-existent layer of sweat and waited for Blaine to arrive, almost hoping she’d have a minute or so to regain her energy before he was ready.

I know you’re not okay with this, Brittany. It’s okay to be sad: I’m sad, Kurt’s sad. You’ve just got to do something about it.

Call me later, okay? We’re all here for you, no matter what you decide to do.

It’s okay, I fine…Seriously.

Yeah I’ll call you. Or can we meet up? Maybe we should just talk instead…Okay…
